Damien Jourdain

Agricultural and Natural Resources Economist

Dr. Damien Jourdain is working with the UMR Water Management, Actors, Territories (G-EAU) within Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement (CIRAD). Within G-EAU, he is an active member of the Practices, Social Representations and Behaviours within socio-hydrosystems (PRECOS) team.

He is currently secunded to the Centre for Environmental Economics and Policy in Africa (CEEPA), at the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences of the University of Pretoria (UP). He is also the animator for CIRAD of a network on Public policies and Governance in Africa.

His research program focuses on:

  1. The economic value of hydro-ecosystems,
  2. The impacts of water allocation policies (efficiency, equity) and the potential implications for the food and energy sectors, and
  3. The economic and institutional instruments conducive to a reduction in water consumption by the different sectors, especially agriculture
